Experimental build

Verify devices using words or QR before direct messages. Member removal requires fresh channel keys. This experimental protocol has not had an independent security review.

CLIENT-SIDE ENCRYPTION

Shared channel key

Everyone uses the same key. Paste a key from a channel member, or generate one for a new channel. No device pairing is needed. Share this key privately with channel members. It is never sent to the server. Remembered keys unlock automatically next time you sign in here.

Use only on a trusted device. Sign-out keeps saved keys; clearing app/browser data can erase them. Keep a private backup.

Generating a different key will not unlock old messages. All holders of a shared key can decrypt that channel's history.

Create a channel

Shared key: everyone pastes or scans the same key. No pairing or device approval required. Verified devices: approve each device and distribute keys automatically.

Anyone with a shared key can read messages encrypted with it, including history. Removing access does not erase copied keys. Keep a private backup of the key.

CHANNEL MEMBERSHIP

Manage access

Shared channels are visible to every account.

The owner always has access. Removing access cannot erase saved messages or keys. Removal blocks sending until the verified owner automatically distributes fresh keys to remaining verified devices. Changing voice access ends the current call for everyone.

Voice & audio

Adjust all incoming voice and stream audio. Above 100% boosts quiet audio; high boost may distort.

Push-to-talk shortcut: Loading…

Revoking access ends affected voice calls, including other participants. Saved content and channel keys cannot be erased from someone else’s device.

Channel message retention

Applies to existing and future messages, measured from when each was sent. Shortening this limit immediately removes older messages and their linked images. Increasing it cannot restore deleted content. Recipients and backups may retain copies.

Edit message

Edits synchronize with updated clients. Previous text may remain in encrypted history, backups, or saved copies.

Delete this message?

This removes the message and its linked image from the server and connected clients. Copies already saved by recipients or in backups cannot be removed.

Delete channel

This permanently removes the channel, its messages, and images from the server. An active voice call will end. Backups and recipients may retain copies.

Encrypted webhooks

Automations encrypt messages before posting. Store the channel key and webhook credential in Gravwell secrets. The server never receives the channel key.

Use the Go flow example in integrations/gravwell. Revoking a token stops future posts; it does not change the channel encryption key.

Application audio

Shared audio is encrypted and independent of your microphone. Closing this panel keeps it playing; leaving voice stops it.

Share application audio
